Nothing Phone 1: Here's what you'll get.
We found out that OnePlus Co-founder Carl pei is leaving the 'BBK electronics' owned company to start his own tech venture called 'Nothing' in late 2020. The company released its first product last year, the 'Nothing Ear 1'. Nothing ear 1 gained a lot of attention and great reviews, not only because of its one-of-a-kind transparent design but the quality the company managed to deliver as well. But it was quite evident that the company wanted to do more than just smartphone accessories.
Then earlier this year Mr. Pei announced Nothing's first smartphone, the Nothing Phone 1. After this announcement, a lot of leaks, rumors, and news started spreading on the internet. And now with the official launch date of Nothing Phone 1 announced, let's sum up everything we know through leaks and rumors to get a rough idea of what we are going to get.
The Build & Design.
Now it is confirmed that Nothing Phone 1 will carry the legacy that Nothing ear 1 left, yea I'm talking about transparency. It is confirmed that the Nothing Phone 1 will have a transparent back which will show some of the Internals including some screws that keeps all the components in place. Even though the phone has a transparent back, it still manages to deliver a uniform and aesthetic look to the device.
The Nothing Phone 1 will feature a frame built of recycled Aluminium which gives the phone a boxy look that resembles some iPhones. The Nothing Phone 1 features a dual-camera setup in the rear with a LED frame inside the panel that might work as the flashlight. With the LED around the camera setup, the Nothing Phone 1 feature a few more LEDs at the back panel, their usage is still unknown but according to leaks, the LEDs might be there to work as notification lights and charging indicators.
The Display.
There's not much information about the display of Nothing Phone 1 on the internet yet. The only official information about the display of Nothing Phone 1 is that there will be no chin at the bottom of the screen. There's always some sort of bezel around the bottom of smartphones in the mid-range, seems like not anymore. Other than this there is no official information or news from authentic sources, but according to the rumors, the Nothing Phone 1 will feature a 6.55-inch OLED display with a 90Hz to 120Hz refresh rate and HDR 10 or HDR 10+ certification. Nothing might reveal some more information about the display along with other specs before the launch to keep the hype machine up and running.
The Camera.
Just like the Display, there's not much information about the camera of Nothing Phone 1 either. The only detail about the camera setup is that the Nothing Phone 1 will feature a dual-camera setup as shown in the design reveal. According to some leaks and reports though, it is rumored that the Nothing Phone 1 will feature a 50MP primary camera sensor with a 12MP Ultrawide sensor. Let's just hope that the secondary camera is not a gimmicky 2MP Macro sensor or something like that. Other than this, there will be a 32MP sensor punch holed at the front to take care of the selfies. We recommend you not to take this information too seriously as these are all just rumors and Nothing hasn't revealed anything about the Cameras officially yet.
Software & Specs
Coming to the Software, We all have very high hopes with the Nothing OS. The claims made by Nothing & Mr.Carl Pei about the Nothing OS in the first event worked as a ray of hope for Android enthusiasts. The company claims that the Nothing OS will be a fairly lightweight customized version of Android that not only will establish an ecosystem with Nothing's own services and products, but with the services and products from other world-leading companies as well. Not only the ecosystem, but Nothing assured that the Nothing OS will completely rely on Google's software instead of shipping its own bloat in the name of essential software like other brands.
To keep the hype around Nothing OS up, Nothing released its Launcher with some limited features like widgets and fonts for other smartphones on the play store. You can download and give it a try by clicking here. Let's just hope that the Nothing OS lives up to the hopes of all the people who are eagerly waiting to experience the software.
Let's talk about the specs now. It is rumored that the Nothing Phone 1 Will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7th Gen 1 processor. There's no official confirmation of this news but it seems like Nothing is not going to use the latest Snapdragon 8th Gen 1 processor as it will raise the cost of production and it will be hard for Nothing to Keep up with the Mid-range price while featuring the premium 8th Gen1 chipset. With the Snapdragon 7th Gen1 processor, Nothing will be able to easily give the users a premium experience while maintaining a fair mid-range price. According to the leaks, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7th Gen 1 chipset will be accompanied by 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage. There's no official statement from Nothing that confirms the specs or the power configuration, but some leaks and news indicate that the Nothing Phone 1 will feature a 4500mAh battery with 45W fast charging and it will support wireless charging as well.
Take a look at all the rumored specs of the Nothing Phone 1:
