iOS 16 vs Android 13: The Final Showdown

Apple announced the next generation of its mobile Operating System iOS at the WWDC 2022. And with iOS 16 Apple introduces a lot of new features and improved the functionality of a few already existing ones. But just a few months before the announcement of iOS 16, Google announced the next iteration of their mobile Operating System, which runs in almost all the non-Apple smartphones out there. (no seriously, does anyone uses Linux smartphones as their daily driver?)

While being focused on different aspects Android 13 & iOS 16 both bring some great features to the table, so let's find out what are they and how are they going to affect us as users.
With iOS 16 Apple brings the freedom to personalize the Lockscreen however the user wants or needs, now the users can edit and even undo the message after 15 minutes of sending it in the iMessage app, Now apple users can also do contactless payments and the pay later feature is available for them as well. Widgets were a part of Android for so long, but when apple did it, they just did it better. And to take it one step further, Now not only users can add widgets to the lock screen, but with the integration of focus mode now the lock screen can change itself based on triggers like location or time as well.
Moreover, users can now hide media in their gallery, and sharing of media also got easier. Share play now supports iMessage and with the implementation of focus mode, users will now be able to control what they want to see depending on what profile they are on, this will not only decrease the distractions but will boost productivity as well. While Android 13 was focused more on the functionality and polishing the already existing features as Android experienced a complete UI overhaul in the previous version of Android i.e. Android 12.
Coming to Android, Google added Material you support to third-party apps. Now just like iMessage, Google's message app also experienced some changes. Now you can share images and videos via Google messages and now you can text over wi-fi without cellular data, thanks to RCS. There are chatting indicators now, and end-to-end encryption is going to be added soon.
Android is now getting Some security features as well, Android will now ask for permissions before sending you notifications, and to select a particular file for an app you don't need to give total access of the storage to the app. Here's a detailed article on the new Android 13.

Google kind of copies apple wallet, Wallet apps are not that big in India either it is apple wallet or Google pay ( not the Google pay we have here), but they are a huge success in the west.
by wallet apps, I mean the services that allow users to keep all their payment cards, health cards, travel cards, and all.
And with Android 13 Google rebranded Google pay as Google wallet. Let's see if it does well.

Overall, both operating systems are trying their best to give the best experience to the users.
The companies will keep evolving and we as users will get more and more features,
And to answer the question that which one is better, that's subjective. It depends on the users and their use cases, some might prefer Android because of its customizability, and others might prefer iOS because of its stability and the ecosystem it provides.

This concludes our feature comparison of  Android 13, and iOS 16.
