Xiaomi Introduces Loop LiquidCool Technology
The heat dissipation method used here by the Chinese smartphone giant is claimed to separate hot air and cooling liquid circulations that lower heat convention issues on mobile phones.
Inspired by cooling systems used in aerospace technologies, the Loop LiquidCool Technology is a new take on the conventional vapour chamber. It works based on the capillary effect that draws liquid cooling agents to the heat source, vapourises, and then disperses the heat towards a cooler area. The company is planning to pack the Loop LiquidCool Technology in its smartphones in the second half of 2022.

This new technology features an annular heat pipe system that is composed of an evaporator, a condenser, a refill chamber, as well as gas and liquid pipes. Placed at heat sources, the evaporator has refrigerant that evaporates to gas when the smartphone is under high workload. The gas and airflow is then diffused to the condenser, where the gas condenses into liquid again. These liquids are absorbed and collected through tiny fibers in the refill chamber—which refills the evaporator—making it a self-sustaining system.

TEST Done by Xiaomi Using this Technique
Based on tests conducted on a custom Mi Mix 4, Xiaomi noticed that the new cooling system managed to keep the device below 47.7℃ in a 30-minute Genshin Impact gameplay session. Notably, Xiaomi says that the temperature of the processor was 8.6℃ lower than the standard version.
Although it uses the same method as VC liquid cooling, the new form factor makes a significant efficiency difference.
VC Liquid Cooling
The inner wall of the VC liquid-cooled heat-dissipating heat-equalizing plate is a layer of capillary structure, and the interior is filled with liquid and evacuated. When heat is released, the internal liquid vaporizes and is transferred to the condensation layer where it is cooled and condensed into water.
